InterX treats PAIN when patient suffer from:
• sport injuries (acute and chronic);
• sprained ankle, rotator cuff injury, shoulder impingement, tennis elbow, carpal tunnel, piriformis syndrome, muscular and ligament strains, patellar-femur syndrome, brachial plexitis, Shlatter’s, ileotibial tract pain, Achilles tendon injuries, etc;
• workplace related injuries: (acute and chronic) neck and lower back pain, disc problems, frozen shoulder, arthritis of the joints;
• many others: headaches, migraines, Irritable Bowel syndrome (IBS), period pains.

|
In nature, when the injury occurs, the body has to deal with it immediately as it represents a threat to survival. All the systems will be involved in this healing process. When it is no longer a priority, the body moves the injury to the ‘back burner’ and gradually adapts to ‘live’ with it.
InterX works on both Acute and Chronic injury.

When chronic injury/inflammation is taking place, it is ‘unfinished business’: the body didn’t heal completely and moved it to the ‘back burner’. the InterX sends pulses working through the skin at the area of damage/trauma, and stimulates nerve receptors to release bio-chemicals, which are aimed to assist in repairing this injury through temporarily increasing inflammation, it almost ‘mimics’ it and stimulate the nerves to pass the signals to the brain to focus on that damage and bring it to the ‘front burner’ again. By releasing the body’s own biochemicals (like endorphin, dopamine, etc, they are powerful natural painkillers) the body continues to work on pain and repairs the injury.
In case of acute trauma, InterX stimulates nerves at the area of damage, as a result neurochemicals are released locally to deal with acute inflammation and information is passed to the brain stimulate release of endorphins. Recovery happens typically without any aggravations. Patient continues to improve and pain is less and less after each treatment.
As a result of this stimulation microcirculation is improved, bringing more molecules of Oxygen and nutrients to damaged cells and removing waste products, which suggests how accelerated healing may take place.
In general, InterX therapy is a pain relief that is achieved naturally, without side effects and has a profound long-term effect.
 |
| What happens during the treatment? |
The InterX is applied to the skin, typically at the site of pain/inflammation. It is often applied along the spinal column to stimulate the nerve roots of the spinal nerves. The patient feels a comfortable prickling sensation. In cases of very pronounced pain the device sends a stronger pulse to counterbalances the pain.
The area of the treatment has to be uncovered as the InterX requires contact with the skin. On some occasions where hair prevents full contact a comb attachment can be used.

|
| How long does the treatment lasts? |
Typically 20 to 30 minutes, but even 10 minutes could be sufficient to provide strong pain relief effect.

|
| How many treatments do I need? |
The course of treatments varies – from 1 session to many. It is very important to have treatment sessions close to each other. Typically the course of treatments is 4 – 8 session within the space of two weeks.

|
| What to expect after the treatment? |
Typically the patient will have pain relief although there may be some pain still present. As pain relief is achieved through the release of the body’s own endorphins and other neuropeptides, the full effect from the treatment is expected within the following couple of hours and lasts sometimes for two days.
Since InterX is an Interactive neurostimulation treatment the patient must watch and monitor the changes in their body. These changes are important and help to guide a therapist through the treatment process. After the treatment the pain localises in the area where the InterX should be applied next and this area often becomes achy at night. This is a common and good reaction and must be reported to the therapist.
You will also find the patient feeling thirsty, so they should drink plenty of water.
Very often as a result of stimulation reaching the central nervous system, you may feel sleepy. Our advice is to allow the body to rest as it promotes the healing process.
In general, the typical outcome of the session is that the patient feels good, “grounded”, warm, and with a sense of well being.

|
| Does it complement other therapies? |
Interactive Neurostimulation combines with most known therapies very well. There has never been any adverse outcome reported.
When seeking pain relief one should understand that high dosage of pain medication can mask real outcome of the treatment, therefore we recommend the patient to consult their doctor to reduce or cancel pain medication throughout the course of treatments with the InterX.

|
Depending on the time spent with the patient, hourly rate is £65 +VAT, inc. consultation, so typical ½ hour treatment is £40 +VAT. Pensioners and students are given concessions.

|
People who have no diagnosis for their pain and who have a cardiac pacemaker.
Serious conditions should be treated under a supervision of your doctor or a trained InterX therapist. You will receive a specific guidance and advice that will be updated on weekly basis to get your pain under control and improve your condition.
People who have pain due to cancerous tumour, or suffering with circulatory diseases such as thrombophlebitis or embolism, epilepsy, pregnancy should be taking caution and seeking advice before starting treatment program with the InterX.

|
| Could my injury get worse by masking pain with the InterX? |
Normally, you wouldn’t. Remember, the InterX is NOT blocking pain, but STIMULATING the area that hurts.
The result from the neural stimulation will cause the central nervous system to become aware of the damage and take the actions to respond by releasing your own biochemicals that will aim at pain relief, repair damage, in other words to restore homeostasis.
However, I would recommend you see your doctor or talk to a trained InterX specialist to make sure that necessary procedures and tests are carried out to stabilise the injury.

|
The InterX finds the treatments areas by sticking to the skin at specific points connected to the damaged area.
The InterX is a neural stimulator which generates electrical pulses. The difference from TENS is that the waveform in each pulse constantly changes in response to the change in skin impedance, making the therapy interactive. Constantly changing waveform helps to prevent accommodation to the therapy. It engages the whole body to respond to ongoing stimulation.

| What is the difference between the InterX Sport and InterX1000? |
InterX Sport
InterX Sport is designed for anyone who does sport professionally or for pleasure. The device contains 3 presets to manage Acute pain and 2 presets to manage Chronic pain. It also has bright yellow colour.
InterX 1000
The InterX1000 has 3 presets to manage chronic pain and only 2 to manage acute pain it is primary
recommended to manage chronically ill people. It is white/ blue colour.
Generally, there is a very little difference between the devices and one can use either.

| What is a Flexible Array? |
Both Flexible Array and dual Flexible Array are external attachments specifically designed to treat the parts of the body that are difficult to reach, for example, the back. One can just lie on it to receive the treatment.
Another application of it is to treat the joints. The Flexible array can be tied to the joint and treatment could be performed ‘dynamically’, meaning that treatment can be conducted while the person is walking on a tread mill or moving the joint, recreating pain. Clinically, it is proven to be most effective treatment technique.
When the Flexible array is plugged into the device, it ‘recognises’ the Flexible Array and automatically switches to function in Cycles. Once the Flexible Array applied to the skin it treats all the area that it covers interactively for the duration of the cycle – 10 minutes.

|
| How often I should use the InterX to get the result? |
Very important factor which affects the success of your treatment is to use the device as soon as the injury occurs or inflammation takes place. The sooner you start, the less treatments you need to get the desired result.
For acute injuries use as often as 5 times a day, where you apply the InterX to the area that hurts for 20 minutes each time.
In case of chronic injury, it is a different story; frequent application will cause over-stimulation and may result in aggravation of the symptoms. To avoid such unpleasant experience, use the InterX less frequently, once every other day or three times a week for 30 minutes each time. Treatment should be focused on the spine where nerves originate and the area that hurts.
In cases of CRPS treat two times a week. Treatment should be applied to the spinal points or head (please contact me for further guidance).

|
| What is a course of treatment? |
Treatment with the InterX should be delivered in batches. Whenever you treat chronic pain, you should at least have eight subsequent treatments. In case of the very chronic pain, give yourself up to sixteen treatments.
After you completed a course of treatments you MUST have a break, even if you still experiencing pain. The body needs rest and put into action the result from your frequent stimulations.
Typically, after 1 or 2 weeks since you stopped your treatments you will have a sustained pain relief. If you don’t get this result, you should contact me and we will analyse your case and make the corresponding changes into your treatment program.

|
| What can interfere with the InterX treatments? |
Various factors can influence the treatment outcome from the InterX. Most important to consider:
- Age (younger people respond quicker to the treatment);
- Current medication (certain painkillers impede effect from the InterX treatments. Please consult your doctor or a trained InterX therapist for advice);
- Life style / bad habits;
- Your compliance with recommended program.

|
| At what age can you use the device? |
InterX technology is very safe, there is no age restriction. However, children and elderly should be treated using a minimum intensity of stimulation, where they feel only pleasant vibration or ‘tingling’.
Treatment time is also recommended to be reduced for younger children. Please contact me, I will be able to instruct on specific cases.
